Pallone: Sign Up for Healthcare

Enrollment for healthcare through the Affordable Care Act begins on Oct. 1.

Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) wants to help New Jersey residents take advantage of new healthcare coverage opportunities through the Affordable Care Act.

Pallone appeared at PSE&G Children's Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick on Tuesday morning with hospital President and CEO Amy Mansue and Justine Ceserano, state director of Enroll America to announce a push to get New Jersey residents signed up for affordable healthcare.

According to a press release from Pallone's office, open enrollment begins on Oct. 1 and runs through March 31 of next year. If enrolled by Dec. 15, health care coverage will begin on Jan. 1.

"In New Jersey, more than 610,000 people will be eligible for the new health insurance premium discounts in 2014," the release said.

Additionally, 395,000 state residents living in poverty will become eligible for coverage through Medicaid expansion, the release said.

More than 900,000 non-elderly New Jersey residents are currently without healthcare, the release said.
