A Colts Neck Township woman was stabbed in her own home Sunday morning, according to Colts Neck Police, and a search has been ongoing in the Aberdeen and Morganville areas.
The incident happened on Bray Street at 12:30 a.m.; the 41-year-old woman's vehicle was stolen after she was injured in her own home by an alleged hitchhiker coming from Route 34.
According to an alert sent by Colts Neck Police to residents, "At this time it appears a person fitting the description of hitchhiker may have been scared by the police presence and was looking to exit the area for unknown reason. After a brief conversation he pushed into residence, stabbed victim, grabbed her car keys near the door and exited Colts Neck in her vehicle."
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office does not know if the victim and her attacker knew each other. The woman's condition is unknown after being taken to the hospital.
A search involving county resources and helicopters in the Aberdeen and Morganville areas did not result in an arrest. Police are checking leads and surveillance video from Aberdeen shops.
According to police, the subject is a white male, early 20’s, skinny, dirty blonde hair, yellow shirt, back pack, last scene in the Aberdeen area.
