2 Men Charged With Burglaries In Sayreville

These two men, who live in Sayreville, were arrested Monday and charged with a series of home burglaries in that town.

SAYREVILLE, NJ — These two men, who live in Sayreville, were arrested Monday and charged with a series of home burglaries in Sayreville.

The Sayreville Police Department, in collaboration with the Middlesex County SWAT team, executed a search warrant Monday on the Sayreville home of Samir Matthews, 19. During the search, police say they recovered a stolen handgun, other illegal weapons (not specified) and evidence linking Matthews and Keyshawon Zephirin, 21, to previous home burglaries in Sayreville.

Matthews was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft, illegal possession of a handgun, two counts of possession of prohibited weapons, involving ammunition and handcuffs and other weapons charges. Zephirin was charged with one count of receiving stolen property.

Both men are currently in the Middlesex County jail. More charges against them are pending, said Sayreville Police.

The investigation was spearheaded by Detectives Nairooz, Lestuck Jr., Pirigyi, and Detective Sergeant Theile of the Sayreville Police Department.
