New Mexican Restaurant Coming To South Plainfield

Blue Habanero serves fresh, authentic Mexican, and has existing restaurants in Perth Amboy and Neptune city.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — A Spanish foods supermarket just opened in South Plainfield, and a new Mexican restaurant is coming, too.

The new 15,800-square-foot Tropical Supermarket just opened at Clinton Corners (1225 West 7th Street) in South Plainfield and Mexican restaurant Blue Habanero just signed a lease to move in there, as well. It's too early to give their opening date, the shopping center said.

This was announced Tuesday by Levin Management Corporation, which is the leasing and managing agent for Clinton Corners.

Levin Management Corporation Senior Leasing Representative Vanessa Kelty arranged the 2,145-square-foot Blue Habanero lease on behalf of property ownership; Diomaris Rosado with Keller Williams Premier represented the tenant. Kelty previously arranged the Tropical Supermarket lease.

“Blue Habanero and Tropical Supermarket are wonderful additions to the tenant mix that will attract even more customers to Clinton Corners,” said Kelty. “Grocery is a significant element for any shopping center, and Tropical Supermarket is a perfect match both for this neighborhood and Clinton Corners. And with the continued impressive performance of fast-casual dining, we are excited to bring a Blue Habanero to the property.”

Clinton Corners shopping complex, located less than three miles from heavily traveled Rt. 22, is home to a Burger King, a Chinese restaurant, a beauty supply store, pharmacy, nail salon and laundromat. The 30,300-square-foot center serves a growing residential population of more than 139,000 people with an average household income of $126,000 within a three-mile radius.
