County Will Spray For Mosquitoes Monday In This Part Of Middletown

This is because some mosquitoes found in Middletown tested positive for West Nile virus, the county said.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — The Monmouth County Mosquito Control Division will spray in sections of Middletown Township this Monday, Aug. 4, the county announced Friday.

This is because some mosquitoes found in Middletown tested positive for West Nile virus, the county said.

The spraying will happen between 4-6 a.m. Monday and the spraying will take place in the residential neighborhoods west of Naval Weapons Station Earle waterfront, east of East Road, north of Sunrise Road, south of Leonardville Road and east of 11th Street and south of Rt. 36.

The county provided the map above that shows where the spraying will take place before dawn Monday.

The Mosquito Control Division will spray Duet mosquito spray (learn more about it here) using Ultra Low Volume (ULV) sprayers mounted in the bed of a pick-up truck. A map of the areas to be treated and a fact sheet will be posted on the Division’s website visitimonmouth.com/mosquito under mosquito schedule and maps.

“August through September is peak time for West Nile virus activity,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Sue Kiley.

Monmouth County also provides free inspectors who can visit properties to identify standing water sources that support mosquito larvae. If larvae are found, the inspectors will either treat the water or remove the source, said Director Tom Arnone.
