My Girlfriend, A Bayshore Nurse, Is My COVID Hero
"There are some days she can barely make it home, she's so tired. Not many understand the amount of work it is caring for COVID patients."

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Earlier this week, Patch asked our readers in Monmouth County to nominate a local "coronavirus hero," someone who may not be getting the recognition they deserve.
And Patch reader Dylan Gowan nominated his girlfriend, Kayla Pedone, of Middletown, who works as a nurse at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel.
Is the nominee considered an “essential worker?" Yes

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized?
She is the hardest working and most caring person I know. She has been beyond stressed and overworked, taking on more overtime than you can imagine and trying her best to help her team of nurses at the hospital fight this horrible virus.

There are some days she can barely make it home because she is so tired. The amount of work that goes into caring for these COVID patients is unbelievable, and not many understand how hard it truly is. She is a angel.
What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?
I would love for everyone to know how hard working not only she is, but all the nurses from Bayshore hospital have been in these trying weeks. She strives every day to try to make these patients feel better and not so alone. I don’t know another person quite like her.
