Candidate Profile: Krystle Adams For Millburn Board Of Ed 2021

MILLBURN, NJ — If elected to the Board of Education this November, Krystle Adams said she would help "get a handle on stress" within the Millburn student community.

1. What is your background?
I am Krystle Adams and I am married with two children in 9th and 10th grade. We've lived in Millburn Township for over 13 years. During that time I have been involved in chaperoning school trips, volunteering for art appreciation and class parties. I even taught a dance class at the after school enrichment program. I coached both my son and daughter's rec basketball teams. I was on the Cultural Engagement Diversity and Arts Committee (CEDA) and I am currently on the Bike/ Walk Millburn Committee. I am an actress and writer. I have performed in plays, musicals and concerts for over 30 years. In other words, I'm a theater geek.

2. What goals do you want to accomplish on the BOE?
I'd like to accomplish:
a) getting a handle on stress within our student community
b) enhancing diversity and inclusivity in the curriculum and hiring practices
c) encouraging the strengthening of the arts (fine arts and performing arts) in all of our schools.

3. What is the number one problem you feel needs to be addressed in Millburn's education system?
What I hear from parents is STRESS. It's been an issue for years and so I would like to serve on the Board of Ed to create and/or vote on policy that would make the stress levels of our children more manageable.
