JCP&L Upgrades Millburn

Jersey Central Power & Light completed upgrades on circuits serving the Millburn area inEssex County.

Jersey Central Power & Light, JCP&L, announced on Tuesday it completed upgrades throughout Millburn as part of the company's $200 million investment to improve service.

“Circuit upgrades are a result of the planning and analysis we do each year,” JCP&L President, Don Lynch, said in a release.  “The planned projects serve to reinforce the distribution network serving our customers.”

JCP&L replaced wire, installed additional lightning arrestors and fuses and devices that separate wires and protect lines from overloading to limit the frequency and duration of power outages.

These upgrades are a part of JCP&L’s 2012 project to improve service reliability and help meet increasing demand for electricity.  

Since 2001, JCP&L has invested more than $1.6 billion in capital improvements to its distribution network.

JCP&L serves 1.1 million customers in the counties of Burlington, Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren.
