MILLBURN, NJ — As a 50th reunion gift, Millburn High School’s class of 1969 donated a painting to the school, depicting a colorful array of class memories.

A group from the class of 1969 visited the high school on Thursday, Sept. 30 to present their 50th reunion gift to the school, entitled “Memories of Millburn High School 1969.” The presentation was delayed until then due to the pandemic.

The painting was created by artist and 1969 graduate Seton McGlennon, and it will be displayed in a place of honor at the high school. On Monday, Oct. 11, several classmates will make a public presentation of the gift at the Board of Education meeting that evening.

In the painting, there are some iconic Millburn images, such as the Millburn Deli, Taylor Park and the MHS pep band, which are still staples of the town. McGlennon created the painting in her North Carolina studio, and she is selling a canvas print of the painting, as well as a set of notecards that showcase assorted designs from the original.

McGlennon’s art pieces have been an “Oprah’s Favorite Thing” and have been featured in People Magazine and Southern Living. She is known for her paintings that “spin any story, event or occasion into a heartfelt original.”
