Millburn Schools Talks Hosting Vaccine Clinic For Kids Ages 5-11

The school district is currently in discussions with the vaccination team at St. Barnabas to host a vaccine clinic for kids in the schools.

MILLBURN, NJ — With the approval of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11 for emergency use, Millburn School District is discussing holding a vaccine clinic in schools as soon as possible.

In an update from Superintendent Dr. Christine Burton on Wednesday, she announced that the district is in talks with the vaccination team at St. Barnabas/RWJ about hosting a vaccine clinic at Millburn schools.

Parents who are interested in their child receiving the vaccine at an in-district clinic, can fill out this survey.

Essex County has opened a pediatric vaccine area in their clinics. Appointments for these vaccines will be made available at the Essex County Vaccination site here. They will be adding more time slots as they get more supply from the federal government.

The school district is also in the process of planning a parent education event about vaccines with Millburn parent and pediatrician Dr. Simon Li — a principal investigator in the Rutgers pediatric clinical trial for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

Li will share insights on the safety and efficacy of the vaccine, and address parents' concerns and questions. In an article published by Rutgers University, Li shared answers to some frequently asked questions concerning the new vaccine.

Weekly COVID-19 testing is available at Millburn Schools, and people can use this Back to Work Solutions link to register for Telemed appointment now, in order to get a prescription for the testing date of your choice.
