A Bloomberg report identified the 100 richest towns in America, and 16 NJ towns are on it.

NEW JERSEY – A Bloomberg report identified the 100 richest towns in America, and 16 NJ towns are on it. The report based its assessment on household income, and the top towns in America have households that earn more than $400,000 a year.
Five communities in New Jersey, which trailed only California on the list, were in the top 50. They were Short Hills (6th) with a household income of $388,760; Rums0n (12th) at $337,696; Upper Saddle River (40th) at $272,573; Glen Ridge (41st) at $271,826; and Upper Montclair (45th) at $265,482. Rumson, a wealthy Jersey Shore community that was once home to Bruce Springsteen, jumped seven spots.

The richest towns in America are Atherton, Calif., with a household income that exceeds a half-million dollars, followed by Scarsdale, N.Y., with $452, 041. They were followed by Hillsborough, Calif., Cherry Hills Village, Colo., Los Altos Hills, Calif. and then Short Hills.
The report stands in contrast to a recent study analyzing the wealthiest counties around the country. This study identified a region of New Jersey where you won't find the hulking mansions of the Jersey Shore and Bergen County, or the sprawling, bucolic neighborhoods of Essex and Union counties.
