MILLBURN, NJ — There are a handful of events happening in Millburn this weekend, including a 9/11 memorial service and the Upper Millburn Avenue Sidewalk Stroll to promote Millburn’s new businesses. Meanwhile, people are encouraged to continue donating funds to help local businesses and residents impacted by Hurricane Ida.

Free Webinar: Insurance Claims for Small Businesses

Explore Millburn is hosting a webinar on Friday, September 10 at 9:00 a.m. to discuss insurance claims for small businesses, from property damage to business interruption. The webinar will also address common coverage terms, notice provisions, exclusions and claims procedures.

20th Anniversary of September 11 Memorial Ceremony

On Saturday, September 11, Millburn will hold a memorial service to commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11 at the memorial in Taylor Park. The service will begin at 9:00 a.m., and the names of all first responders lost and Township residents who perished will be read.

If anyone has a name of a friend or loved one they’d like to be read at the service, they can email their name to letusknow@millburntwp.org.

Millburn is also commissioning a memorial designed by artist Sarah Langsam. It will serve as a dedication to the 412 first responders and 7 Millburn Township residents who lost their lives that day and all those impacted. The memorial will feature steel pieces retrieved from the World Trade Center, which are in the town’s possession, and it will be located at Crescent Park, adjacent to the Short Hills Train Station.

Upper Millburn Avenue Sidewalk Stroll

Millburn residents can enjoy a “sneak peak” into Rocktoberfest with the Sidewalk Stroll that is scheduled Sunday, September 12 from noon to 4 p.m. There will be free live music and family friendly events, as well as ribbon cuttings and business promotions.

Rocktoberfest, a music festival fundraiser, will take place the following weekend, on Saturday, September 18 in Taylor Park from noon to 10 p.m. Over 20 music bands and solo artists will be showcased, and there will be Oktoberfest-inspired food and drinks for purchase.

Continue to Donate to Hurricane Ida Relief Efforts

Superintendent Dr. Christine Burton, as well as Mayor Tara Prupis, are asking residents to help out local businesses and residents in need of financial assistance after Hurricane Ida.

People can donate to the Hurricane Ida Business Recovery Fund here.

There is also a GoFundMe page to help a local family pay to rebuild their home after losing everything due to flooding.
