Swing Into Fall! Celebrate the kick off of Maplewood Community Music's 10th season

As autumn rolls in, Maplewood Community Music will kick off their year-long 10thanniversary celebration by hosting an evening of jazz entertainment.

Swing Town, Maplewood’s 20-piece big band under the direction of Ben Williams, performs the premiere concert of the 2012 – 2013 season on Friday, October 26 at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts in Maplewood at 8 p.m.

A Halloween Ghost Walk

The Grover Cleveland Birthplace Memorial Association presents "A Halloween Ghost Walk". Guided tours by James Gardner will take you on a half-mile walk from Arlington Avenue to the Cloverleaf Tavern, revealing unbelievable but true stories about the neighborhood. 

Tours start at 5, 5:30, 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m. (7:30 tour sold out!) Tours must be reserved in advance with full payment. Please show up 15 minutes before tour scheduled tour time to check in. 

Wacky Walkathon to End Loneliness

The Turn-A-Frown-Around Foundation, Inc. (TAFA) is
holding the first annual Wacky Walkathon to End Loneliness on the Montclair State campus on Oct. 26 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event will promise a night of wackiness as walkers optionally dress in accordance with the Halloween theme. Contests, incredible theater, dance, and musical performances, food, prizes, Zumba and Drumba, an art show by Montclair students, a clown for the kids, crazy comedy, an arm wrestling championship, the Haunting and Healing Houses, the opportunity to become a Forever Friend, and more will fill the campus’s Recreation Center. For details and to register, click here or email wackywalkathon@gmail.com.

State Scare Haunted Attraction

All new this year, State Scare, located at State Fair Halloween Store, is the scariest indoor haunted attraction in New Jersey. Take a stroll down ‘Maim Street,’ a terrifying little thoroughfare built on the site of the old State Processing Factory, recently razed due to its evil activities. On Maim Street, you’ll find a creepy barber shop, butcher, pub, hotel and 5&10. Come and find out why shoppers are disappearing, and Maim Street isn’t quite what it seems. “Not So Scary Sunday Matinee” for kids, Sundays in October, from 4-6 p.m.

 

PUMPKIN PATCH at Wyoming Presbyterian Church

It’s Pumpkin Patch time again at the Wyoming Presbyterian Church.

Saturday, October 6, at 9 a.m. volunteers will unload a tractor-trailer load of pumpkins onto the front lawn, transforming it almost magically into Millburn’s very own suburban pumpkin patch. Drop by rain or shine to pick out all of your Halloween pumpkins, gourds, and decorative corn.

Haunted House for Kids

 A great time for kids!  Start with our haunted house and venture into the haunted woods (indoors).  If you are brave enough you can enter into our blackout section.  This haunting experience is for children.

Apple & Pumpkin Picking at Stony Hill's New Pick Your Own Farm

62nd Annual Millburn Halloween Parade

Sunday, Oct. 28 11:00 a.m. George Bauer Community Center, 100 Main St, Millburn 

MILLBURN/SHORT HILLS RESIDENTS ONLY:  Join us for a day of Spooktacular Fun on October 28th from 11am-3:00pm at Taylor Park!  Pony Rides, Petting Zoo, Pick a pumpkin at our Pumpkin Patch, Hay Rides, Operate a Front End Loader, DJ and of course our 62nd Annual Halloween Parade and Contest (Parade begins at 12:00 sharp). 

 

Luna Stage Presents: 'Vita and Virginia'

Thursday through Sunday, Luna Stage, at 555 Valley Road in West Orange, will continue performing "Vita and Virginia." Performances will run until Oct. 28, 2012, and there will be a talkback following the performance on Oct. 18.

Show times will be: Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; and Sundays at 3 p.m. Admission on Thursdays is $25, and $35 for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
