When the story broke yesterday, Patch reported that the Yogi Berra Museum, an iconic tourist destination for sports fans, houses irreplaceable memorabilia - including a recent exhibit of love letters Berra wrote to his wife over the course of 65 years. Essex County Police are offering a $5,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest.

The museum opened it’s doors in 1998 to honor the sports hero who played catcher for the New York Yankees from the 1940s to the 1960s. Berra also led the Bronx Bombers to 10 world series, winning 14 American League pennants.

The museum has been asked by authorities not to release a statement at this time, however representatives from the museum stated that museum personnel are cooperating with authorities.
