Hour-by-Hour: How Much Snow, Sleet Will Fall In Montclair

Snow, sleet, and freezing rain will hammer Montclair until Tuesday morning. Here's an hour-by-hour look at the hazardous forecast.

Once again, slick, freezing, and icy conditions are plaguing Montclair residents. A wintry hazardous mix of precipitation has hit New Jersey Monday, and it’s expected to last until the evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Freezing rain, snow and sleet will hammer Montclair today, with a tenth of an inch of ice and half an inch of snow and sleet accumulating during the day.

Snow and sleet will accumulate before 10 p.m. in Montclair, making way for more snow overnight. Snow is expected to fall until at least 5 a.m. with less than an inch of new snow accumulating, according to the NWS.

The National Weather Service has issued a ”Winter Weather Advisory,” an alert for freezing rain, sleet and snow that’s in effect from Monday at 6 a.m. to Tuesday at 6 a.m.

  • 1 p.m.: 26 degrees with freezing rain, snow, sleet
  • 2 p.m.: 26 degrees with freezing rain, snow, sleet
  • 3 p.m.: 26 degrees with snow, sleet
  • 4 p.m.: 25 degrees with snow, sleet
  • 5 p.m.: 23 degrees with snow, sleet
  • 6 p.m.: 22 degrees with snow, sleet
  • 7 p.m.: 21 degrees with snow, sleet
  • 8 p.m.: 21 degrees with snow, sleet
  • 9 p.m.: 21 degrees with snow, sleet
  • 10: p.m. – 5 a.m.: 21 – 22 degrees with snow

Crews and property owners already struggling with up to several feet of snow on the ground and on some roofs will need to prepare and make room for additional snow, according to Accuweather.

Enough snow, sleet and freezing rain can fall to make roads slippery around New York City and in New Jersey, especially where the precipitation occurs during the early morning and evening hours, according to Accuweather.
