Items Stolen from Yogi Berra Museum in Montclair to Be Replaced

The museum board of trustees announced that exact replicas of the items will be donated to the collection.

The Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center said Monday that items stolen earlier this month will be replaced by donations from Major League Baseball.

The statement read: “On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center, we are pleased to announce that Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig and Major League Baseball, the New York Yankees and the New York Mets are graciously donating exact replicas of the items recently taken from the museum.”

Items from the museum were reported stolen on October 8. It was later discovered that several of Yogi Berra’s World Series rings and two MVP plaques were among the stolen goods.

The Board of Trustees also announced that their “heartfelt thanks go out to Commissioner Selig and Major League Baseball, the Yankees and the Mets for their generosity, as well as to all of the fans and friends of the museum for their concern and support during this difficult time.”
