Montclair Town Meeting On Lackawanna Plaza Will Include Q&A

Town officials and planners will answer questions about a controversial real estate project in Montclair: Lackawanna Plaza.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — As a decision on the oft-discussed Lackawanna Plaza development plan gets closer, the discussion about the fate of the property continues in Montclair.

A community meeting to discuss the current proposal will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8 in the auditorium at Glenfield Middle School, 25 Maple Avenue.

Planning Director Janice Talley, along with consultants Ira Smith from Smith Maran Architecture + Interiors and professional planner Keenan Hughes from Phillips Preiss, will present the revised plan and will be available to answer questions. Fourth Ward Councilor David Cummings will also be present

The Montclair Town Council is scheduled to introduce a revamped plan for the Lackawanna Plaza project at their meeting on Aug. 15. A vote on the project may come at the Sept. 12 meeting.

The plan has seen several changes since it was first put forward. See the new version online here (released July 28). The previous version of the plan and other supporting documents can be found on the town’s website.
