NJ Dance Theatre To Host Free Story Time At Montclair Public Library

The NJ Dance Theatre is inviting community residents to enjoy a free reading of poetry at the community story time event on April 27.

From NJ Dance Theatre: New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble, a pre-professional training and performing company in downtown Summit, will host a free community story time of springtime poetry at the Montclair Public Library at 50 South Fullerton Avenue in Montclair on Thursday, April 27 at 4 p.m.

Open to all children in the community ages 4 to 10, NJDTE dancers will bring the classical and contemporary poetry of writers such as Robert Louis Stevenson, Langston Hughes and Eve Merriam to life at this free event.

NJDTE dancers, including Montclair resident ‘Ashe Turner, 16, will perform and lead interactive creative movement explorations inspired by the season of spring, nature and animals. Afterwards, the dancers will answer questions, sign autographs and take photos with the children in attendance.

NJDTE presents its annual repertory performance, “ i Balli di Primavera!” at Memorial Auditorium at Montclair State University for one performance only at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 7. The pre-professional company will present four world premieres by Elizabeth Roxas, a legendary Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater company member, Elizabeth Koeppen-Kalosieh of Parsons Dance, contemporary choreographer Adam Barruch, and NJDTE Artistic Director Nancy Turano. The production features more than 55 dancers ages 7 to 18 from across New Jersey.

Repertory favorites by choreographers Sidra Bell and Jean Emile complete the mixed bill program of short ballet, modern and contemporary works. Tickets are $35 for adults and $25 for children, students and seniors, and are available at www.njdte.tix.com or by calling 908-273-5500.
