Stolen Restaurant Equipment, Cash and Bicycles Top The Latest Police Blotter

Burglary
A man apparently broke into Aozora Japanese Restaurant in the early morning hours of Sept. 29, stole the cash register, and walked away with it, according to a police report.
Police responded to the restaurant on Bloomfield Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. when an employee reported the cash register to the business was missing and a computer was knocked over.

A video surveillance camera showed that a man entered the restaurant through the rear door around 3:20 a.m., took the register, and was last seen walking west towards Glenridge Avenue with it. The employee said the register contained $135. The man in the tape was described as a white male, five feet eight inches tall, wearing a blue t-shirt, blue jean shorts and sneakers

Arrest
Police arrested a man for disorderly conduct near South Park and Church streets after merchants complained the man was panhandling and harassing their customers.
Police responded to Church Street around 10 p.m. on Sept. 29 and found Darren Allen, 31, of Elizabeth who was allegedly blocking customers from exiting a business as he asked them for money. He also had an odor of alcohol on his breath.
Allen was given a summons for disorderly conduct and began cursing at police. A short time later, he was arrested after being found inside another business on South Park Street, sitting at a counter and yelling.
Police learned he had outstanding warrants and took him into custody. His bail was set at $2,223.
Burglary
An employee at Greek Delights Restaurant on Bloomfield Avenue reported a theft at 10:35 a.m. on Sept. 30. The employee said a front window had been broken and cash and restaurant equipment had been stolen.
The restaurant closed at 9:40 p.m. the night before and the break-in was disovered the next morning. Cash from a register and a cash box was stolen, along with a blender, food processor and digital scale. The value of the cash and items stolen is over $4,000.
There are no suspects at this time.

Theft
A woman reported the theft of her son’s Trek Hybrid bicycle after it was apparently stolen in front of a Midland Avenue residence on Sept. 30.
The bicycle was a men’s blue/gray Trek Hybrid that was valued at $500. The woman said her son left the bike at the residence at noon the day before and discovered it missing two hours later.
There are no suspects at this time.

Arrest
An 18-year-old driver was arrested for acting disorderly in front of children after he began swearing out loud and refused to exit his car when he was pulled over by the police.
Jason Milien of West Orange, was pulled over on Harrison Avenue around 5 p.m. on Sept. 30 after police noticed a broken brake light on his Honda Accord. Milien also could not provide proof of insurance, according to police and was told to get out of the car because it was going to be impounded.
Milien became agitated and refused to exit the vehicle. Police then opened the door and again asked him to exit the vehicle. Milien responded by punching the steering wheel, getting out of the car, and cursing at the officers. Three juveniles approached the area where the officers were stopped, and Milien continued to curse despite officers asking him not to swear with children in the area. Milien, was placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct. He was later released.
Arrest
Monclair police went to the Passaic County Jail at 5:20 p.m. on Sept. 30 to take custody of 24-year-old Daryl Cuyler Jr. of Newark. It was learned that he had outstanding warrants from Montclair and West Orange.
Burglary Attempt
A woman told police someone tried to break into her Claremont Avenue apartment on Sept. 30 between 7:45 a.m. and 10 p.m. The door jamb and lock to the apartment were damaged and police said they believe someone tried to pry open one of the doors and kick in another door.
There are no suspects at this time.

Theft
A woman who was walking around the track at Canterbury Park on Sept. 30, said she left a set of keys near the water fountain and finished her walk to find they’d been stolen. She reported the theft to police around 8:20 p.m. There are no suspects at this time.
Arrest
Montclair police took custody of Rameena Barksdale, 32, of West Orange on Oct. 1 around 9:25 p.m. from West Orange Police Headquarters and after confirming she had a outstanding warrant from Montclair.
Vandalism to a Motor Vehicle
A woman reported vandalism to her car around 3:10 p.m. on Oct. 1 after she discovered someone had tried to pry a canoe rack off the top of her parked Honda Civic. The woman said she had parked the car in a South Fullerton Parking lot around 8 p.m. the day before.
Theft
A man living on Grove Street said someone stole his $1,100 mountain bike between Sept. 28 and Oct. 1. The bike, a men’s green-colored Warrior Iron Horse model, had been covered under a tarp under the rear deck of his home. There are no suspects at this time.

Motor Vehicle Theft
A man reported his Ford Mustang convertible was stolen from the driveway of Mike’s Auto Repair on Walnut Street on the afternoon of Oct. 2.
The man told police he’d parked the car there the day before at noon, but had gotten a call from a neighbor who told him the car had been missing since 8 a.m. on Oct. 2. There are no suspects at this time.
