Van Vleck's 14th Annual 'Deck The Halls'

The Van Vleck House and Gardens in Montclair is presenting, "three days of holiday cheer," beginning Nov. 20.

Van Vleck House & Gardens 14th Annual Deck the Halls gala will encompass three days of celebrations, beginning Thursday, November 20 and ending Saturday, November 22. The celebrations go to benefit a good cause, raising funds to keep this historic property operating and open free to the public.

Open House at Van Vleck will be Thursday afternoon, November 20, 4:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. and Friday, November 21, 10:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. Visitors will view the oversize tree and holiday trimmings adorning the period sconces and mantelpieces throughout the elegant house. These showcase hours offer a rare opportunity for the public to tour the interior of the Van Vleck House at a minimal charge. Tickets are $5.

A Holiday Luncheon will be held before the gala, on Thursday, November 20 from noon till 3:00 p.m., at Montclair Golf Club, with raffle baskets and seasonal holiday items for sale. Tickets are on sale at $95 for Friends of Van Vleck and $115 for all others.

Highlights of the November 22 Saturday night gala will include a silent auction of one-of-a-kind holiday centerpieces, wreaths, trees and mantel covers made and donated by local residents and designers, outings, trips and dinners; a “wine pull” lottery of pricey wines; hors d’oeuvre, open bar and supper – with music by Montclair’s own Jazz House Kids. Tickets are $135 for Friends of Van Vleck, $155 for all others, on sale October 15.

Space is limited, so reservations are required, except for Open House hours, which do not require reservations. All proceeds from Deck the Halls 2014 benefit the care and maintenance of Van Vleck House & Gardens.
