NJ Pizzeria Offering Free Pies As SNAP Remains In Limbo
All residents need to get a free pizza is proof of SNAP enrollment.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — As the future of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) remains uncertain, one Morris County pizza parlor is making sure its community is fed.
Dough Dash Pizza, located at 34 Route 46 in Pine Brook, is offering free pizza pies for those who are enrolled in the embattled SNAP program.
“We understand that many families are facing a difficult time right now…We want to do our part to help. At Dough Dash Pizza, we’ve always believed that no one in our community should go without a meal,” a statement read. “We’re grateful to be part of this community, and this is our small way of giving back to the people who make it special.”

Partial SNAP Funding
The Trump Administration recently announced it will comply with two federal judges’ orders to partially fund the food aid program for the month of November.
Officials said that more than $8 billion is needed to fully fund the program through November, nearly double what’s in the program’s contingency fund.
It was not made immediately clear when the EBT cards, the debit cards that those enrolled in SNAP use to buy groceries, would be reloaded. Attorney General Matthew Platkin asks enrolled residents to keep an eye on their balances.

Trump Threatens To Withhold SNAP Funds
Despite the program’s partial funding through November, President Donald Trump threatened to keep SNAP unfunded until the government shutdown ends.
Last week, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he would continue to fund SNAP benefits only when “the Radical Left Democrats open up government.”
“SNAP BENEFITS, which increased by Billions and Billions of Dollars (MANY FOLD!) during Crooked Joe Biden’s disastrous term in office (Due to the fact that they were haphazardly 'handed' to anyone for the asking, as opposed to just those in need, which is the purpose of SNAP!), will be given only when the Radical Left Democrats open up government, which they can easily do, and not before! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” the president wrote.
Friday marked Day 38 of the shutdown, which is the longest in U.S. history.
Meanwhile, Governor Phil Murphy has mobilized the National Guard and allocated $42.5 million to address New Jersey’s food crisis.
