MORRISTOWN, NJ — A new addition has recently been announced for Morristown's M Station, a multi-phase, mixed-use office and retail development located just steps from the Morristown Train Station.

At the Tuesday, March 14 town council meeting, Mayor Tim Dougherty touted the deal, speaking highly of the company's future contribution to the Morristown business community.

Dougherty, who said the deal was more than a year in the making, will bring nearly 2,000 employees to the community and add to the town's growing business district.

"We had to keep quiet about it for a long time. The deal is done, they are coming. The new building is going to start probably around July and we're excited. We're very happy to have our new family and partner coming into Morristown to join this wonderful community," Dougherty said.

The deal, which was made public this month, involved Sanofi leasing approximately 260K square feet in Morristown, with an additional 17K square feet for Consumer Healthcare. Until now, no one knew exactly where the extra space was located.

According to Councilman Nathan Umbriac, who works for Sanofi, the French pharmaceutical giant will locate some of its operations at 21 South Street.

"It's all slowly coming out," Umbriac said.

The healthcare company will also occupy the majority of the second M Station building, a cutting-edge structure built to bridge the gap between Morristown's train station and the Morristown Green.

"I think it's great. It's great for the community, it's great for Sanofi as an organization to be in a great downtown, like Morristown, so there is a lot of buzz around the office about it," Umbriac said.

"Mayor Dougherty and his administration understood the necessity of bringing high-caliber corporate tenants to Downtown Morristown, which offers an energized nightlife, but lacked the daytime foot traffic critical to supporting local retailers that are the lifeblood of the community," Steve Pozycki, Founder and CEO of SJP Properties said. "Over the past three years, SJP’s developments have welcomed three major corporate employers — Deloitte, Valley Bank and now Sanofi — and thousands of employees, to Morristown, bolstering the retail market."

According to a Sanofi spokesperson, the transition to Morristown will take place in two stages, the first in the fourth quarter of 2024 and the second in the first quarter of 2025.

Sanofi is best known for the prescription sleeping pill Ambien and Admelog, a fast-acting mealtime insulin.
