Public Remembrance Ceremony For Sen. Tony Bucco This Weekend
The longtime Morris County politician will be honored at a public remembrance ceremony this weekend, three weeks after his passing.

RANDOLPH, NJ — A public remembrance ceremony will be held for the late state Senator Tony Bucco this weekend. All are welcome to attend.
The service will be held on Sunday Oct. 6, at 2 p.m., at the County College of Morris Student Center Auditorium. Bucco's colleagues and family will speak, including state Senate President Stephen Sweeney, Sen. Tom Kean Jr., Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon, and grandchildren, Anthony "Rocco," Lauren, and Jenna. A video message from Gov. Chris Christie will also be played.
Attendees will be guided to parking lots by police officers. Shuttle buses will be available from the lots to the Dragonetti Auditorium in the Student Community Center.

Bucco, 81, died of a heart attack in mid-September. He represented New Jersey's 25th district as a Republican for more than 20 years. Before being elected to the State Senate, Bucco served as mayor of Boonton from 1984-1989, as a Morris County Freeholder from 1989-1992, and a State Assemblyman from 1995-1997. Upon election to the State Senate, his son, Anthony M. Bucco, was elected to his father's old seat in the Assembly.
During his tenure in the State Senate, Bucco served on the following committees: Select Committee on Economic Growth Strategies; Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens; Labor; and Intergovernmental Relations Commission.

In addition to his political work, Bucco was the president of Baker/Titan Adhesives, a Paterson-based company. He was on the board of directors of the Boonton Baroque Orchestra, the board of trustees of the Saint Clare's Health Services Foundation, and an advisory board member for Roots & Wings. Bucco was also a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957 to 1665.
Bucco is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Helen; his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony M. and Amy Bucco; and several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to either the Boonton Kiwanis First Aid Squad (PO Box 16, Boonton, NJ 07005) or to the Boonton Fire Department.
