Water Main Construction Scheduled To Continue In Morristown

As construction continues, certain areas in Morristown may experience service disruptions next week.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Water service may once again be disrupted in select areas around Morristown between the hours of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. next week due to ongoing construction on the local water main.

The Southeast Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (SMCMUA) began a multi million dollar project earlier this year to replace 1.53 miles of water main in greater Morristown, according to Morris County officials.

Water service construction on South Street in Morristown will be concentrated between Miller and Dehart streets.

This work will be done between Nov. 14 and Nov. 16.

Residents should expect intermittent water outages, detours, road closures and limited access to facilities. According to officials, the work should not have an impact on the quality of your water.

The project aims to ensure a more resilient water system for its customers in the areas of Morristown, Morris Township and Florham Park.

Following the completion of the construction process, the water quality in the project area is expected to be improved. The existing unlined cast-iron mains will be replaced by concrete-lined ductile iron mains.
