Ballantine Eco Festival is Saturday

Ironbound event features music and an 'eco-village'


The Ballantine Green Festival will be held Saturday, April 13 from 12 to 4 pm, (rain date: April 27) in the parking lot of the former Ballantine Brewery complex, located on Ferry Street between Oxford and Freeman Streets. 

The festival will feature live entertainers such as Rancho Folclórico “Dança na Eira” da Fundação Bernardino Coutinho, Ecuadorian Diaspora | Folklore from Ecuador, and Meletrix Jazz Band, as well as games for the kids, family prizes and much more.

There will also be an “Eco Village” where residents can drop off electronics and batteries for recycling, as well as take part in environmental demonstrations.

Participating organizations in the day’s festivities will include Greater Newark Conservancy, Urban Renewal Corp and Rutgers Cooperative Extension- 4-H Youth Development. Sponsors include the Ironbound Business Improvement District, East Ward Councilman Augusto Amador and Home Depot.
