Barringer Students Get a Cool - Very Cool - Lesson

Scientists offer cryogenics presentation

Barringer High School in Newark recently hosted a demonstration of cutting-edge cryogenics -- the science and study of extremely low temperatures -- conducted by engineers from Linde’s North American headquarters in Murray Hill.  The presentation, which also included a question-and-answer session, was part of Linde's ongoing community outreach campaign. The Linde program is focused on supporting science education in local areas where the company maintains offices or other facilities.

“This was an excellent experience for our students,” says Kathleen Tierney, chairperson of the science department at Barringer. “They were engaged throughout the presentation and the demonstrations provided real-world applications for the concepts that were discussed.  I hope this partnership will continue in the future.”

Vinita Abraham, a Linde representative says, “The demonstrations gave students the opportunity to understand real life applications of cryogenics. We hope this has increased their interest in science and engineering. That is the ultimate reward for us.”
