The 2025 election results have been certified. Here's the final tally.

NEWARK, NJ — Amina Bey has won the race to replace LaMonica McIver on the Newark City Council, edging out Gayle Chaneyfield Jenkins by less than 100 votes, certified results show.

A highly watched governor race brought many Newark residents to the polls on Nov. 4. But there were plenty of other choices for local voters to make in the 2025 general election.

Residents in Newark's Central Ward voted in a special election to fill an unexpired term for LaMonica McIver, who was elected to Congress last year. The candidates were Jhamar D. Youngblood, Amina Bey, George M. Tillman Jr., Gayle Chaneyfield Jenkins, and Walter T. Jacobs.
