Boys, 13 and 15, Charged with Murder of Newark Man
Victim was trying to run after being robbed by youths, officials say

Two teenage boys are facing murder charges following a robbery attempt late last month, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office told Patch.
The boys, aged 13 and 15, allegedly robbed Ernest Alston, 50, of Newark, March 29 near Gray and Orange streets. In an attempt to flee, Alston ran into traffic and was struck by a car, prosecutor spokeswoman Katherine Carter said. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 10:50 pm.
The boys were arrested April 5 and charged with aggravated manslaughter, felony murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery. The driver of the car has not yet been identified, Carter also said.
