A 22-year-old city man was arrested Wednesday on charges he sexually assaulted two women in separate incidents earlier this month, Newark police said in a statement.
Hakim Jones has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, robbery and three counts of aggravated sexual assault.
Around 11:30 pm March 9, a 28-year-old woman was assaulted at 207 Court St. as she walked from a bus stop. Less than a week later, on March 15, a 22-year-old woman was attacked around 11 pm when she parked and exited her car at New Fairview Village.
Jones used a gun in the assaults, Det. Todd McClendon said.
"I want to commend all those detectives who worked diligently to remove this sexual predator from our community,” Police Director Samuel DeMaio said.
