Dog Stolen From Front Yard In Newark, Police Search For Suspect
A woman was seen on video taking the animal and walking away, Newark police said.
NEWARK, NJ — Authorities are searching for a Newark woman who has been accused of stealing a dog from its owner last weekend, police announced Wednesday.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, police have issued an arrest warrant for Hymifah Richardson, 44, of Newark, in connection with a burglary that took place on Saturday.

“At approximately 3:30 p.m., the victim let her Shih Tzu poodle mix out to roam in the front yard of her home on the 100-block of Norfolk Street. When the dog did not return, surveillance video captured the suspect taking the animal and walking south on Norfolk Street.”
Detectives investigating the theft identified Richardson as a suspect. She has been charged with burglary, theft and harassment, authorities said.
Police said Richardson is 5 feet 5 inches and 200 pounds. Authorities released surveillance photos and video, which can be seen below.
