Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Samuel A. DeMaio announced Friday that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a homicide.
Wayne S. Simpson, 30, of East Orange was fatally shot at approximately 8:30 a.m. near 82 North Munn Avenue.
According to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly, the investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force tips line at 1-877-847-7432.
