NEWARK, NJ — Got an unwanted mattress to get rid of in the Brick City? The Newark Department of Public Works is offering local residents two ways to throw them away for free, officials recently announced online.
The city is offering drop-off and pick-up services for Newark residents, according to a social media post. There is a limit of two per household. Mattresses must be wrapped in plastic. Call (973) 733-3644 to schedule a pickup, or drop off mattresses at the following designated locations:
Residents can drop off a mattress Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the following locations:

The city's pickup schedule follows below (Monday - Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.):
- Monday - Central Ward
- Tuesday - East Ward
- Wednesday - North Ward
- Thursday - South Ward
- Friday - West Ward
