Man Found Guilty of Gunning Down City Resident on Christmas Eve

Victim was killed in sight of his daughter

A 20-year-old from East Orange was found guilty Thursday of murdering a city man as he tried to break up a fight on Christmas Eve two years ago.

Jaworski Sneed, 20, was also found guilty of  weapons charges and faces up to 30 years in prison when he’s sentenced May 13.

On Dec. 24, 2011, a fight broke out at a grocery store near Osborne Terrace and Shephard Avenue. When Daryl Logan, 47, who worked in the store, stepped outside to intervene, he was punched to the ground. While Logan was down, Sneed shot him in the back of the head, prosecutors said.

The victim’s daughter, who lived in an apartment directly across from the grocery store, witnessed the fight and the fatal shooting of her father.

“This was a brutal, senseless murder of a hardworking, innocent man who, in the spirit of Christmas, was trying to break up a fight,’’ said Assistant Prosecutor Kim M. Acocella.
