More Affordable Housing Opens In Newark: Locals Get ‘First Dibs’
Newark is accepting applications for the Rise Living apartment building on South 17th Street. Local residents skip ahead on the list.
NEWARK, NJ — Newark residents who are searching for affordable housing now have another hat to throw their names into.
On Wednesday, city officials announced that they will begin accepting applications in February for six units at the Rise Living apartment building at 710 South 17th Street.
According to a municipal advisory, the units include one and two-bedroom apartments with “affordable rents, all the beautiful finishes of our market-rate apartments, and access to the same first-class amenities.”

There is an income restriction of 80 percent of the area median income (see here).
As per the city’s new “first dibs” policy, Newark residents who apply for one of the six units at Rise Living must be considered before out-of-town residents. See Related: Newark Residents Get 'First Dibs' On Affordable Housing Under IZO

Interested applicants can fill out pre-applications online here. Qualified applicants should contact LAC Property Management Inc. at rentals@lifeassests.net with the following information: first name, last name, contact number, total household income, total household size, number of bedrooms are you applying for, suggested move-in date.
