Newark Arts Festival To Hold ‘Interactive Family Learning Experience’

The event will include a "free outdoor learning experience" and a "safe community space for youth of all ages and their families."

On Saturday, October 8, the Newark Arts Festival will feature a Spotlight Event, Open Doors Kids: Fall Into S.T.E.A.M at Greater Newark Conservancy, located at 32 Prince Street in Newark, New Jersey. From noon to 4 p.m., the conservancy will transform into a free, interactive outdoor learning experience and safe community space for youth of all ages and their families.

Open Doors Kids: Fall Into S.T.E.A.M. is a collaborative event presented by Arts Ed Newark, STEAM URBAN, Greater Newark Conservancy, and a host of community partners. Participants and their families will experience live performances, student artwork on display, a fresh Farmer’s Market with produce bag giveaways, indoor/outdoor mixed-learning environments, and arts ed activities that stimulate all five senses in alignment with the Festival’s “Artful Healing” theme.

“Arts Ed Newark is thrilled to be able to showcase: the work of Newark’s young artists, the wondrous space the Conservancy offers, as well as allow families to come together around art-making, an inherently healing practice in itself. Our partners have curated something special this year,” notes Arts Ed Newark Director Lauren G. Meehan.
