Newark Hospital Welcomes First Baby Of 2024: Here’s Her Name
The first baby of 2024 at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center was born at 2:12 a.m. on New Year's Day.

NEWARK, NJ — Scarlette Manganti didn’t waste much time getting ready to greet the world on her first birthday.
Manganti has the distinction of being the first baby of 2024 born at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She was born at 2:12 a.m. on Jan. 1, weighing in at a healthy seven pounds and five ounces and measuring 19.5 inches.
According to the hospital, her mother – Maria Manganti of Newark – is feeling good and can’t wait to bring her newest bundle of joy home to meet her two older brothers.

A study released in 2023 – which analyzed statistics from 2022 – found that the top baby name in New Jersey for girls was Emma, and the top name for boys was Liam.
