Newark Made Podcast Spotlights Local Filmmaker and Producer Ayana Morris

Newark, N.J. — October 3, 2025 — In the midst of the 2020 lockdown, Newark filmmaker and producer Ayana Morris saw an opportunity to bring her community together in a whole new way. The result: Moonlight Cinema, New Jersey’s first Black-owned drive-in theater, where people could safely gather to enjoy film, art, and connection.

Ayana recently joined Newark Made, Invest Newark’s new podcast highlighting the city’s entrepreneurs and changemakers, to share how she turned a pandemic challenge into a bold, creative venture.
