Newark NJ Turnpike Truck Fire, GSP Crash Prompt Delays Morning: DOT

NEWARK, NJ - Two separate incidents in Newark - on the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike - have prompted commuting delays in the area, authorities said.

As of 6:08 a.m., there’s a truck fire on the New Jersey Turnpike outer roadway northbound south of interchange 14 - I-78/US 1&9 in Newark, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The right shoulder is currently blocked, the agency said.

Separately, as of 5:46 a.m., there’s a crash on the Garden State Parkway northbound north of Exit 144 - CR 510. Three right lanes are currently blocked.
