Newark Officials Celebrate Renovation of Senior Care Facility

Extended Care partnering with New Hope Baptist Church

Newark Mayor Cory Booker and The New Hope Baptist Church Pastor Joe Carter joined staff at Newark Extended Care on Jay Street last week for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the revitalization of the facility with a newly renovated floor and overall improvement initiatives for residents and the surrounding community.

“I really wanted to be here at this event because I’ve been visiting this community now for over a decade, and there is a warmth and professionalism here; a sense of spirit and love, and this is how, in my opinion, we should be caring for each other,” Booker said.

Guests were invited to tour and see the overhaul of the entire floor, which included 86 brand new beds, furniture, fixtures, and a beautiful new dining area that is being finished with a fireplace in the designated family lounge.

The occasion also marked the new partnership between Newark Extended Care and The New Hope Baptist Church of Newark, which will begin providing Sunday church services on a regular basis.

“We are looking forward to starting New Hope Baptist Church here at Newark Extended Care.  We will have afternoon services here every single Sunday, and not just for the residents but for the family members and for those in this community,” said Carter of New Hope Baptist Church.
