Newark Shelter Overflowing With Adoptable Dogs; Wellness Clinic Nears
Want to adopt a big ol' doggo (40 pounds and up) from the AHS-Newark? You'll get a voucher for the Newark Pet Wellness Clinic to celebrate.

NEWARK, NJ — The Associated Humane Societies’ Newark animal shelter is “overflowing” with amazing, adoptable dogs, staff say. And a promotion being held this month will give local pet owners yet another reason to give one of them a forever home.
The AHS-Newark shelter is kicking “Adopt A Dog Day” up a notch with a monthlong celebration in April. People who adopt a dog 40 pounds or heavier from the shelter will get a voucher for its Wellness Clinic and free vaccines – good for up to a year after the adoption.
“Our shelter is overflowing with amazing, adoptable dogs that are friendly with kids, other dogs and some are even friendly with cats,” a spokesperson said Tuesday. “Please adopt – don’t shop!”
