PSE&G, the state’s largest utility, is ready for its closeup.
The Newark-based company will be featured tonight on the PBS program “America Revealed,” a series spotlighting the infrastructure that makes modern life in the United States possible. Past episodes have focused on the nation’s system of food supply and distribution and its transport network.

Tonight’s show, “Electric Nation,” explores America’s electric power grid, the system delivering energy generated from a variety of sources -- including nuclear and renewables -- through a 200,000-mile network of power lines. The show airs on Channel 13 at 10 pm.
“America Revealed” host Yul Kwon, a technology expert and winner of “Survivor: Cook Islands,” provides viewers with first-person accounts of what’s involved in operating complex technological systems like the power grid.
In tonight’s episode, the adventurous Kwon joins PSE&G workers repairing a live wire pulsing with thousands of volts of electricity, repairs made while the workers stand aboard a hovering helicopter.
Kwon also tours a nuclear power plant, skitters down a towering wind turbine, and travels on an oil tanker.
“PSE&G is proud that our live wire team is featured in the series ‘America Revealed: Electric Nation,’ the company said in a statement. “It is unique work that takes unique individuals to do. We are pleased they are being recognized for the work they do to safely maintain the reliability of our transmission system.”
PSE&G worked with the show for about a year to produce the segment, including filming that lasted about a month, the company also said.
