Shelter Dogs Face Dire Deadline In Newark, Rescuers Desperately Needed
A shelter in North Jersey put out a call for help in the name of three dogs. One has been rescued – two still face a Wednesday "deadline."

NEWARK, NJ – There is still time to rescue Johnny and Luna – but the clock is ticking down.
The Associated Humane Societies-Newark recently put out an urgent placement call for three dogs: Rhina, Luna and Johnny. Each has a “deadline” of Wednesday, Oct. 15, the shelter reported.
Due to preventable incidents with other dogs, the three pooches need rescue organizations only – not adopters or fosters.

“These dogs need full commitment and the security of never facing another return to the shelter,” the AHS-Newark said.
“Each of these dogs has been failed in the past,” the shelter continued. “Their challenges with other dogs likely could have been avoided with more time and guidance, and now they need people willing to help them succeed.”

On Sunday, the shelter reported that one of the dogs – Rhina – has found a place with Heart and Soul Dog Rescue Inc., a nonprofit that also recently rescued another lovable pooch from Newark.
Things still remain desperate for Luna and Johnny, however.
“These two have been through so much and desperately need a second chance,” AHS-Newark reported. “Please help us by sharing their story, tagging rescues, and spreading the word far and wide — their lives depend on it.”
“As a reminder, neither Johnny or Luna are friendly with other dogs, and while fostering would be welcomed through a rescue, it is not available through AHS as these dogs deserve 100% commitment without the chance of returning to the shelter,” staff said.
