Bring Kids To History Day May 17 At East Jersey Old Town Village
This FREE, family-friendly event brings history to life with historical reenactments, hands-on activities and interactive performances.
PISCATAWAY, NJ — Step back in time and celebrate the stories that shaped our nation at Middlesex County’s annual History Day, which will be held from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. May 17 at East Jersey Old Town Village in Piscataway.
East Jersey Old Town Village is Middlesex County’s preserved town from the 1700 and 1800s, with historic buildings and actors in period dress.
This FREE, family-friendly event brings history to life with historical reenactments, hands-on activities and interactive performances.

Event highlights include:
- Live reenactments of the historic first collegiate football game: Rutgers University vs. Princeton University
- Wagon rides at Johnson Park
- Revolutionary War and Civil War camps
- Historical weapon demonstrations
- 18th- and 19th-century music performances
- Crafts and activities for children
- Officials from the county and the state
- A variety of local food trucks and gourmet offerings
Guests can also explore the Cornelius Low House Museum and Metlar-Bodine House Museum using RIDE, Middlesex County’s free, accessible, on-demand shuttle service between all event sites.
