During the robbery, the suspects stole a number of collectibles and cash before fleeing the scene in the homeowner’s Jeep Grand Cherokee. West Caldwell Police say it appears the home was "targeted."
The Jeep was found later Tuesday morning crashed in New Brunswick, and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Unit is currently combing it for evidence.
"Preliminary details from this incident appear that this residence was targeted by the actors and this does not appear to be consistent with recent home burglaries for high-end motor vehicles in the area," said police in the wealthy Essex County town.
