Council Mulls Snuffing out Smoking in City Parks
A smoking ban in public places and a resolution against fracking are on the agenda.
Smoking in New Brunswick's parks may no longer be allowed following tonight's city council meeting.
The council will vote on a resolution to "discourage smoking in city parks and other public places," at the meeting scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, May 15.
Municipal smoking bans are not unheard of in New Jersey. East Brunswick recently updated their council-issued public smoking ban to include the township municipal building.

The council will also discuss whether to pass a resolution that takes a stand on fracking, a controversial technique used in mining for natural gas.
A public hearing is scheduled for the start of the meeting regarding proposed floor changes to Kelly's Korner on Morrell Street.

The public will have two chances to address the council in two public comment portions of the meeting.
Meetings are held at city hall, 78 Bayard St.
