City Housing Inspector Charged with Drug Possession, Distribution
Chief housing inspector Michael Mahony was suspended from his job this weekend following a drug-related arrest.
Michael Mahony, the suspended chief housing inspector for the city of New Brunswick has been charged with drug possession and distribution, according to a report on NJ.com.
On Saturday, the mayor's office announced that Mahony had been suspended without pay, but remained tight-lipped on why.
Mahony was jailed on Friday on charged with possession and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, according to the report.
He was released Saturday after posting $150,000 bail.
The New Brunswick Police Department confirmed its involvement in the investigation in a press release on Saturday, but also declined to release details.
"Director (Anthony) Caputo cannot comment on details of the investigation at this time; however a follow-up statement is expected in the near future," the release said.
