Diabetes Expert to Speak at Saint Peter's
Dr. Padma Shri V. Mohan is the founder of Dr. Mohan's Diabetes Specialties Center in India.

Padma Shri V. Mohan, M.D., the founder and chairman of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Center in Chennai, India, will speak about “Prevention of Diabetes Through Community Empowerment: Success Stories From India” from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Saint Peter’s Cardio Metabolic Institute, 51 Veronica Ave., Somerset. The seminar is open to the public.
The Diabetes Specialties Center in Chennai, India, is the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Non-Communicable Disease Prevention/Control and is the International Diabetes Federation Center for Education.
“Diabetes self-management education is the hallmark of care at the Saint Peter's Diabetes Care and Control Center,’’ said Meena Murthy, MD, an endocrinologist and chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Nutrition and Metabolism at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. “Saint Peter’s provides a broad array of services including diagnosis, education, medication (including the insulin pump), nutrition counseling, diagnostic continuous monitoring, exercise counseling, and psychological counseling. Dr. Mohan’s seminar is part of that effort to educate the public.’’
