Eight Inducted Into New Brunswick High School Hall of Distinguished Alumni

The New Brunswick Education Foundation also awarded 44 scholarships.

More than 400 people recently attended the 7th Annual New Brunswick Education Foundation (NBEF) Awards Gala at which more than $50,000 in scholarships was awarded and eight alumni were inducted into the New Brunswick High School Hall of Distinguished Alumni.

The NBEF awarded scholarships to 44 graduating seniors who will be attending college in the fall from New Brunswick High School and New Brunswick Health Science and Technology High School.

At the Gala it was announced that Emmanuel Johnson, a 2009 graduate of New Brunswick High School and the first recipient of the Richard H. Brown Scholarship, who recently graduated from North Carolina A&T State University has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and will begin studies at the University Birmingham in England in September.

The NBEF also inducted eight new members into the New Brunswick High School Hall of Distinguished Alumni. Those inducted include:

James M. Carman, Class of 1957 – former Fire Director of the New Brunswick Fire Department.

Joseph C. Faraci, Class of 1956 – former owner of Brunswick Fuel Oil Company.

Myriam Irizarry, Esq., Class of 1973 - Chief Deputy Director, Court and Operational Services Division and General Counsel for Pinellas County Clerk of Circuit Court.

John M. Paitakes, Ph.D., Class of 1961 - former Vicinage Assistant Chief Probation Officer, Somerset County Courts and Criminal Justice teacher at Seton Hall University.

Janet L. Russell, Class of 1984 – Lead Engineer for Lockheed Martin, Mission and Systems Training.

Nicholas Santoro, Class of 1969 – musician, teacher and fine arts administrator former president of New Jersey Music Educators Association.

Joseph Silva, Jr., M.D., Class of 1958 - expert in infectious diseases, Dean Emeritus and Professor of Internal Medicine, University of California at Davis.

Natalie Bisheaba Swain, Class of 1993 – celebrity makeup artist and fundraiser.

Seniors receiving scholarships included:
