First Baptist Church to Recognize NJ's Fathers

A fundraising fathers day brunch and auction will be held on June 16 at the Somerset church.

Fathers throughout the state will be honored at the 3rd annual Father's Day Brunch and Special Auction on June 16 at the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens.

Hosted by Harvest of Hope Family Services Network, Inc., the event will begin at 1 p.m. at the church, located at 771 Somerset St. in Somerset.

“Harvest of Hope is excited to have a great team of volunteers planning a very festive Father’s Day Brunch; this year’s brunch promises to be the best event yet. The team is selecting the best menu items to compliment a decorative afternoon with great entertainment; a celebration for all fathers, families and friends,” said Maureen Archibald, executive director of Harvest of Hope Family Services Network, Inc., in a prepared statement.

Harvest of Hope Family Services Network, Inc. was founded in 1996 by Rev. Deforest B. Soaries Jr., Pastor for the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens.

It is a faith-based foster care and adoption agency that has placed over 1,000 children into foster homes, according to a press release from the church.

"The honorees include fathers, foster and adoptive parents as well as community leaders whose dedication and commitment has extended to volunteerism in their communities to provide children and youth with a stable and safe environment to grow in," the release said.

Admission to the brunch is $25 for adults, $15 for children ages 3-9, and free for children younger than 3.
