Former RU Football Player Faces Charges following Domestic Incident

Michael Larrow was dismissed from the football team earlier this month due to issues unrelated to the arrest.

A former Rutgers University football player is facing assault charges following an alleged "domestic incident," police say.

Michael Larrow, 22, of New Brunswick, a former tight end for the Scarlet Knights, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. Saturday and charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief, according to a press release from the New Brunswick Police Department.

Larrow's arrest comes from an alleged "domestic incident" at his girlfriend's Hamilton Street house, according the release.

Larrow posted bail on May 25, according to the Records Department of the Middlesex County Department of Corrections.

According to an article on CBSsports.com, head coach Kyle Flood said Larrow was formally dismissed from the football team on May 6 for "disciplinary reasons," but the announcement was made on Monday.

Larrow joined the Scarlet Knights in 2011 as a defensive end, starting the first five games of the season before an ankle injury took him off the field. He was then suspended for four games in 2012 for a "violation of team policy," according to the article.

A spokesman for Rutgers University did not immediately return a request for comment.
